At the beginning of each year we plan Fishing Events on our lake inviting fly fishermen to enjoy friendly competition with each other. During the day we also enjoy a break for a welcome lunch and a hot drink. We limit entries to around 28 anglers and we do advise early booking for our Spring, Summer and Autumn Events. There are some very attractive prizes to 'cast ' for and at each event we get some very sizeable fish to weigh in before photography and prize giving. As far as we can recollect no-one has ever blanked!!

Our Christmas/Winter Competition is by Invitation only and is usually fully attended but if you wish to put your name down for any cancellation, please let us know.

In addition we hold 'Open Days' where we ask leading Fly Fishing tackle manufacturer Snowbee to display their latest tackle along with Fly Fishing Instructors in attendance to introduce visitors to the art of fly casting. So please keep your eye on this page from time to time to avoid missing Blakewell days!!

We are a Troutmaster Water so each month there is an opportunity for your notable fish to be entered in this National Monthly Promotion . At the end of each year there is a fish-off to allow one lucky angler to represent Blakewell at the Annual National event. So if you have a fish that you think could win a Monthly Badge please send in your Entry Form found in our Ticket Office.

Please note that on all Competition Days the lake is only open to casual or visiting anglers after 4 pm on the day.
